NEW YORK – Forward duo Brandon Reeves and Anthony Lewis combine for 18 points apiece and 16-for-17 from the free throw line but turnovers allowed John Jay College of Criminal Justice (2-1, 1-0 CUNYAC) to run away with a 81-61 victory over the City College of New York (3-2, 0-1 CUNYAC) on Tuesday evening in the Doghouse on the campus of John Jay College.

Reeves went 4-for-8 from the field and 10-for-11 at the charity stripe and added eight rebounds – four offensive –, one block and one steal while Lewis, the two-time reigning City University of New York Athletic Conference/Con Edison Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, went 6-for-11 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in 34 minutes.

The Beavers kept it close in the first half and trailed 35-32 even though the Bloodhounds shot 57 percent in the opening period.

The Beavers took a 48-42 lead seven minutes into the second half on consecutive layups by center Guilherme Brodt and two successful free throws by Reeves but eight of John Jay's steals in the latter stages of the game were costly for CCNY.

The Beavers return home and continue conference play as the Cougars of Medgar Evers College enter Nat Holman Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 PM.
