The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team roared back from a 25·point deficit before falling 60-51 in a non-conference game against Millikin University on Tuesday night in Carlinville.· The Big Blue jumped out to a 37-18 halftime lead then extended the lead to 25 before Blackburn came charging back into the contest.
Blackburn went on a 10-0 run with 13:45 left to cut the Millikin lead to 49-39 with 8:39 to play in the game.· James Gowin's layup with 4:56 remaining cut the lead to four at 51-47.· The contest went back and forth with the Beavers trimming the lead to four again with 1:36 left.· A turnover at the 1:03 mark helped the Big Blue get some breathing room to hold on for the win.
Freshman Diarra Cropper led the Beavers with 11 points and Jon Lowry added nine points and led Blackburn in rebounds with nine.· T.J. Griffin scored 21 points for MIllikin to lead all scorers.· For the game the Beavers shot 36 percent on 22 of 62 shooting but just 33 percent at the foul line on 5 of 15 shooting including missing three straight front ends of the one and one.
Blackburn is now 0-3 on the season and will leave for Memphis this weekend to play in the Rhodes College Tournament.· Millikin is now 1-2 on the year.
