GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Rowan University had five players score in doubles figures and the Profs defeated the Bullets 71-47 in the championship game of the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon in Bream Gymnasium.

Tournament MVP Jason Rosenberg posted a double-double of 11 points and a tournament-record 10 assists for the Profs (2-0), who used a 16-2 run midway through the second half to pull away. Rosenberg finished the weekend with 17 assists, breaking the tournament record by four.

Rich McNamara added 14 points and eight rebounds for Rowan while Brendan Cox added 12 points. Dee Benson and Matt Whitworth contributed 11 points apiece for the Profs, who shot 50.8 percent from the floor.

Senior forward Alex Zurn led Gettysburg (1-1) with 12 points, shooting 3-for-6 from 3-point range, and was named to the All-Tournament Team along with Cox, McNamara, Teddy Tuggles of Keuka College, and Brian Lebowitz of Kenyon College. It was Zurn's third-straight selection to Gettysburg's Tip-Off All-Tournament Team.

Kenyon defeated Keuka 73-62 in the consolation game behind 28 points from Lebowitz. Tuggles posted 18 points for Keuka.

The Bullets trailed 41-29 after a pair of Zurn free throws with 15:00 remaining. But that's when Rowan went on its decisive run, knocking down four 3-pointers along the way. Kendall White's trey with 8:22 left made it 57-31, and the Bullets were unable to get the deficit under 23 the rest of the way. Freshman Sango Amolo provided a spark down the stretch, however, scoring eight of his 10 points in the final 2:31.

Zurn opened the contest with a triple less than a minute into the game, but Rowan scored the next two buckets to take the lead for good. The Profs opened up some breathing room with a 13-0 run – with McNamara scoring seven points along the way – to assume a 29-12 lead with 8:10 left in the opening half. However, the Bullets scored the last five points of the period to make it 37-27 at the half. Zurn connected from long range with 1:33 to go before sophomore guard Sean Gordon made a steal in the Rowan backcourt and raced it in for a lay-up just before the buzzer.

Gettysburg hit a cold stretch early in the second half, however, and missed on its first eight shots of the period. In the meantime, Rowan had pushed its lead over 20.

The Bullets were held to 31.8 percent shooting but went 13-for-15 at the foul line.
