MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/07/11)--Brandon Fisher had a career-high 22 points and Concordia had five players in double figures as they beat St. Mary's 85-78 on Wednesday. It is the second win in the past three games for CC who improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the MIAC.

Concordia trailed for only :32 in the game. St. Mary's connected on the first basket of the game but then the Cobbers went on a 16-2 run to seize control of the game. CC pushed the lead to as many as 14 points in the first half and used that buffer to keep St. Mary's from making a serious run in the second half.

The Cardinals (0-8/0-4 MIAC) got to within six points with 4:15 thanks to the play of junior Michael Burfeind. Burfeind scored 18 points in the second half on his way to a career-high 38 points. Burfeind went 4-for-8 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the second period as he single-handedly kept SMU within seven points for the final minutes of the game.

The Cobbers had their best night of the year shooting the ball from the floor. CC shot better than 40.0% from the field in both halves and finished with a season-high 85 points. Fisher was 8-for-11 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from behind the arc and posted his first-ever 20-point game. He also had a career-high seven rebounds.

In addition to Fisher's 22 points, Dewon McKenzie had 17 points, Aaron Lindahl came off the bench to score 13 points, Jason Huus had 12 points and Ebo Nana-Kweson added 11 points. McKenzie also dished off a career-high eight assists as he scored in double figures for the fourth straight game. Nana-Kweson contributed six rebounds, five assists and three blocks to go along with his 11 points.

St. Mary's had three players score all but five of the team's points. Besides the 38 from Burfeind, Pat Freeman went 4-for-8 from 3-point range and finished with 23 points. Tom Gores had 12 points in the loss. Burfeind and Gores came off the bench as the Cardinals' bench outscored their starters 52-26.

Concordia will stay at home to finish off the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule. CC will square off against Hamline on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.
