ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (1/2/12)-- Concordia was outscored 14-6 in the final 4:00 against Bethel and lost 73-66. The Cobbers led 61-59 with 3:54 to play but then went 2-for-8 from the floor and committed three turnovers down the stretch and lost by seven.

The loss drops the Cobbers' overall record to 4-6. CC is now 2-3 in the MIAC. Bethel wins for the second straight game and is now 6-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.  

Concordia trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half but then battled back and closed out the first period on a 14-2 run and went into the break only down by one point at 31-30. The Cobbers then continued their hot streak at the start of the second half as they went up by eight points at 56-48 with 10:48 to play. The Royals then scored nine straight points in the next 3:45 to grab a 57-56 lead with 7:43 to play. The teams would then trade points until the final 4:00 when BU went on the game-winning streak.    

Cobber junior guard Dewon McKenzie led the team in scoring for the third straight game and fourth time in the last five contests as he put up 20 points and went 4-for-7 from outside the arc. Ebo Nan-Kweson added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds and seven assists. Jason Huus had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Bethel had four players score in double figures and was led by reserve forward Taylor Hall who scored a team-high 18 points. He was 5-for-6 from the floor in the decisive second half and scored 12 of his 18 points in the final 20 minutes of play. Luke Butenhoff also came off the bench to record 15 points in 18 minutes of play. He was 7-for-10 from the floor.      

Hall and Butenhoff led the Bethel bench which outscored the Cobber reserves 42-5. The other biggest statistical advantage came in turnovers and points off of turnovers. The Cobbers had 19 miscues and were outscored 24-13 in points off of turnovers.

The Cobbers will stay in the Twin Cities and play in Northfield on Wednesday when they take on St. Olaf at 7:45 p.m.
