MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team lost 76-67 on the road Saturday against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leader Morrisville State College.
Gallaudet (10-10, 7-4 NEAC South Division) saw its three-game win streak snapped as the Bison were manhandled down low as Morrisville St. (13-7, 10-0 NEAC North) grabbed 67 rebounds and held a 34-22 edge in the paint. GU was only able to grab 27 boards off the glass, the 36 rebound margin differential is a new season low for the Bison. The 67 rebounds by an opponent is a new high this season. The Mustangs were also able to score 21 second chance points off 24 offensive rebounds.
The Bison had four starters reach double figures in the loss led by senior guard Brandon McMillan (Frederick, Md.) who scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half. He made 6 of 10 shots (3-for-3 in the second half) as he added three rebounds and two steals. Junior guard Jocus Houston (Baton Rouge, La.) netted 12 points to go with six steals, three assists and two boards. Senior guard Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) had 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Senior forward Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) had a rough day shooting (5-for-20 from the field) but managed to accumulate 10 points, eight assists, four steals and three rebounds. The 17 steals by the Bison is a season-high.
