Stevens Tech Knock Off Baruch, 82-72, in ECAC Quarterfinal

The Baruch College Bearcats lost to the Stevens Institute of Technology, 82-72, in a quarterfinal round playoff game of the 2012 ECAC Metro Postseason Championship Tournament played on Wednesday night in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats (14-14) played a strong game shooting 49.1 percent (28-57), but the Ducks (20-9) shot 57.8 percent (26-45), including 5-of-6 from three-point range in the second half, to walk off with the home victory.


Chris Beauchampfinished his stellar career with 16 points and four assists. His career scoring total, which is first in team history, will go into the record books with 1,573 total points. He is also third all-time in successful three-pointers and second in games played.

Calvin Jurewicz-Johnson(9pts, 5 rbs, 3 stls), Mickey Abbatiello(9pts, 2 stls), and Justin Girylukk (5 pts, 2rbs) also each ended a solid four-year playing career this evening.

Jason Berlinercame off the bench to score 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Fuat Yaparcontributed eight points, six rebounds and two steals.

Matt Skrelja led Stevens with 20 points, nine rebounds and two steals.
