Second Half Surge Leads LC Past Choctaws, 80-63

PINEVILLE, LA - The Mississippi College men's basketball team was outscored, 47-25, in the second half as Louisiana College came away with an 80-63 victory on Monday night in the H.O. West Fieldhouse.

The Wildcats (10-13, 9-11) will enter the tournament as the #3 seed from the East Division, while the Choctaws (9-15, 7-13 ASC) will go in as the #4 seed and face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Belton, TX.

LC went 11-29 from the three-point line and shot 55% (18-33) from the floor in the second half.  Korey Salmon led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  Doc Welch and Danny Sumner also scored in double-figures with 15 and 12, respectively.

The Choctaws were led by senior Trevon Malone with 20 points and 11 boards.  Sophomore Brandon Blake also had 11 points.  Senior Marlon Ester tallied five assists, while Chad Jones had three blocks.

MC will move on to their 14th ASC Tournament in 14 tries, the most of any team in the league.
