NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - For the second straight night, the 18th-ranked Oswego State men's basketball team took control of game with early three-pointers en route to a 92-68 win at New Paltz. The victory clinches the Lakers the No. 1 seed in the league playoffs, which begin in two weeks.

New Paltz led by as many as five points early in the game, but back-to-back three-pointers by Sean Michele (Sr., East Rochester, N.Y.) in the fifth and sixth minutes and another by Ryan Sheridan (Sr., Blauvelt, N.Y.) were part of a run that put the Lakers up, 19-12, and in control for rest of the game.

Oswego State went on to hit 13 three-pointers and pulled away from the Hawks, taking a 41-29 lead at halftime thanks to yet another three-pointer by Michele, one of the top three-pointer shooters in the nation.

New Paltz never threatened to get back in the game in the second half, as the Lakers shot 61 percent from the floor and 13 of 20 from three-point range, including five of seven from Michele.

Hayden Ward (Jr., Montauk, N.Y.) hit a trio of three-pointers and finished with a team-high 20 points, while Michele added 15 points and nine assists, one off his career high.

Chad Burridge (Sr., Hannibal, N.Y.) added 13 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, while Alex Mirabito (Jr., West Oneonta, N.Y.) added 11 points and Josh Delfino chipped in 10 off the bench.

The Hawks were led by Harris Witchard's 25 points.

The Lakers are back home on Tuesday night when they host Geneseo at 8 p.m. for the first of three regular season home games. Oswego State will host a SUNYAC Quarterfinal game on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m.
