The first half was close throughout as both teams used much of the shot clock on each possession. With the scored tied 26-26, the Chargers went on a 9-2 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 35-28. Husson's Libby connected on a trey with 35 seconds left to cut the deficit to 35-31 at the break. Tobin led all scorers with 11 points in the frame.
The second half was played at a more frantic pace, but both teams could not get into a comfortable flow due to fouls. There were 29 fouls called in the half and 43 total free throw attempts. Colby-Sawyer connected on 19, while Husson made 13.
The Chargers led 58-57 with 4:10 on the clock, but a McMorrin jumper gave the visitors the lead. Dias made a pair of free throws to take the lead back, but sophomore Phil Leighton's (Naples, Maine) jumper on the next possession gave Husson a 61-60 lead. Eight unanswered points by the Chargers gave the home team a 68-61 edge. Trying to make the comeback, Husson's Wes Murphy was fouled twice with less than 30 seconds left attempting a pair of three-pointers. He made all six free throws, but with the Eagles still trailing, they fouled Colby-Sawyer's Will Bardaglio. He made all four of his attempts in the final seconds to ice the game in Colby-Sawyer's favor 73-67.
Husson held a 43-31 advantage on the glass and a 42-16 edge in bench points.
