Baruch Runs Past CCNY (77-51), Team Shoots 50 Percent in Home Victory

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Beavers of CCNY, 77-51, in a home game played on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 39-23 halftime advantage by shooting 54.5 percent (18-33) in the opening 20 minutes. They finished shooting 50 percent (31-62) the entire game and scored 31 points off 21 CCNY turnovers to record their fourth victory in their last five CUNYAC games.

Fuat Yaparscored a career-high 19 points (7-12 fg) and missed a double-double with eight rebounds. Mickey Abbatielloconnected on 6-of-7 shots from the field to total 13 points. Calvin Jurewicz-Johnsonrounded out the double-figure scorers this evening with 10 points.

Rob Goldstein, who was named earlier today the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, finished with five assists and only one turnover in 27 minutes of action.

Israel Vickers led the visiting Beavers with 16 points in the contest.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, February 9, as they will play in Baruch College's marquee athletic event the "Battle of Lexington". The Bearcats will play John Jay College of Criminal Justice with tip off scheduled for 7:30 pm.

The basketball doubleheader against John Jay will be recorded by Bronxnet-TV for a broadcast at a "to be determined" future Sunday date on CUNY-TV (New York City Cable Channel 75).
