Bradley bookends Lycoming's 81-74 win over Arcadia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the Lycoming College men's basketball team, Saturday, Feb. 4's Commonwealth Conference game against Arcadia ended as it begun, in the hands of senior center Mike Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa./St.Joseph's Prep). After scoring the first 13 points of the game, Bradley had six critical points in the last four minutes to lead the Warriors to an 81-74 win over the Knights.
 
Lycoming (17-4 overall, 7-3 Commonwealth) moved within a game of league-leading Messiah (14-6 overall, 8-2 Commonwealth) heading into the Wednesday, Feb. 8's matchup between the two school's at 8 p.m. in Grantham, Pa. The women's game precedes the men at 6 p.m.
 
Bradley got the Warriors out to a fantastic start, as he had two traditional 3-point plays and one 3-pointer in the first five minutes while scoring Lycoming's first 13 points during a 21-2 run. With four minutes left and Lycoming holding a slim one-point lead, Bradley picked up a steal at midcourt and zoomed in for a layup and then hit four straight free throws with less than two minutes left to give Lycoming a five-point lead before Lycoming continued to ice the game at the line.
 
"Mike did a great job starting out and finishing," Lycoming head coach Guy Rancourt said. "The steal at midcourt, the free throws, he is a senior and a leader. He did a great job."
 
After falling behind by 19 in the opening seven minutes, the Knights (9-12 overall, 2-10 Commonwealth) began to work back into the game, using a 23-10 run over the next 10 minutes to come within six points after a jumper by Khalief Trawick. However, one of two 3-pointers from junior Jerald Williams (Riverdale, Md./Bladensberg) started a 12-0 run by the Warriors, which featured two 3-pointers from freshman Chris Foreman (Union, N.J./Union), as Lycoming was able to take a 44-26 lead into halftime thanks to 20 points off turnovers.
 
"Chris is red-hot right now," Rancourt said. "He's shooting very well. He is a great spark off the bench."
 
However, after shooting 40 percent in the first half, Arcadia shot 60 percent in the second, spending the first 16 minutes of the half on a 36-17 run to take a 62-61 lead with 4:21 left after a layup by Rashon Brock. However, a pair of free throws from sophomore Michael Rudy (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) gave Lycoming the lead back before Bradley's fastbreak bucket.
 
A 3-pointer from Trawick tied the score with 3:09 left, but the second of Williams' 3-pointers put Lycoming in the lead for good before the Warriors hit 9-of-10 from the line in the last two minutes and also posted two fastbreak buckets from junior Anthony Martin (Detroit, Mich./Christ the King) to close out the game on a 20-12 run.
 
Bradley finished with 19 points, five rebounds and two steals and Williams added 15 points, 12 assists, six steals and five rebounds, as he posted his third double-double of the season. Foreman added 14 points and three rebounds and Martin notched 11 points, two blocks and three steals. Both Rudy and sophomore Kevin Anthony (Columbus, Ohio/Bridgton Academy) added six rebounds.
 
Trawick led the Knights with 21 points, five steals and four assists and Travis Saltus added 14 points, five assists and two steals. Malcolm Still notched 18 points, five rebounds and three steals.
