Buffalo State Claws Past Potsdam, 88-79

POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (17-3/10-3) used a 19-4 run over the final six minutes to escape with an 88-79 victory over host Potsdam (4-17/2-12) in a SUNYAC game this afternoon.

Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) led Buffalo State with 23 points and nine rebounds.  Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) added 20 points and seven boards, and Nico McLean (Amherst/Amherst) chipped in 14 points and four assists.

After leading the entire first half, Buffalo State found itself behind for much of the second frame, including trailing 75-69 with just over six minutes to play.  The Bengals scored the next nine points to take the lead, however, and then iced the game at the free-throw line.

The Bengals outscored Potsdam 21-6 from 3-point range to overcome a 48-36 deficit in the paint.

Buffalo State will return to action at home next Friday against Geneseo at 8 p.m.
