Buffalo State Shoots Past Plattsburgh, 92-74

PLATTSBURGH, NY— Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) scored 25 points and hit seven of Buffalo State's (16-3/9-3) 12 3-pointers en route to a 92-74 victory over host Plattsburgh (7-13/5-8) in a SUNYAC contest tonight at Memorial Hall.

Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) added 11 points, while Ahmed Nagaya (Bronx/Astor Collegiate) and Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) chipped in 10 points each.

Plattsburgh hung around in the opening 20 minutes, trailing just 36-32 at halftime, but Buffalo State blew the game open in the second half.  The Bengals steadily pulled away and led by 38 at 88-50, before Plattsburgh scored 24 of the final 28 points in the closing seven minutes of the game.

The Bengals outscored Plattsburgh 36-21 from 3-point range, and forced 25 Cardinal turnovers, while committing just 16.

Buffalo State will make the short trip tomorrow to battle Potsdam at 4 p.m.
