ALBION, Mich. – First-year guard Zach Hurth made three baskets as Albion College trimmed a 16-point deficit down to seven with less than six minutes remaining, but the game effort by the Britons came up short in a 64-55 loss to Calvin College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.
Calvin led 33-20 at halftime and it maintained a double-digit lead for the first 13 minutes of the second half.
Hurth's jumper whittled Calvin's lead to 54-47 and the Britons had two possessions to pull closer but they came away empty.
Kolin Kazen collected his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Hurth extended his career scoring high to 18 by hitting 8-of-12 shots from the field.
Calvin center Tom Snikkers produced 23 points and 11 rebounds and Tyler Kruis added 11 points.
