MILTON, Mass. -- Junior guard Charles Fenner III (Bronx, N.Y.) poured in career-high 31 points to pace the University of New England men's basketball team in a 73-61 triumph over Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game played Tuesday evening at the Student Center.

The Nor'easters (4-15) -- who downed the Colonels for the second time in nine days -- improve to 4-8 in league play. Curry dips back to the .500 mark in the CCC action (6-6) and stands at 8-11 overall.

Fenner's point-total was the highest since Johnnie Jefferson '09 posted 37 points against Eastern Nazarene in the 2008-09 season. Fenner made 8-of-14 shots from the field, 4-of-8 from deep, and 11-of-12 at the free throw line to eclipse his previous personal-best by six.

Senior Jarryd Rossignol (Caribou, Maine) had eight of his 13 points after halftime, and classmate Brian Jones (Austin, Texas) scored eight of his nine in the opening 20 minutes.

Curry was led by A.J. Stevens off the bench with 14 points and eight rebounds. Both Michael Connery and Eric Guglielmello added 13 points in support.

UNE surged out ot a 10-point advantage (14-4) after the initial 5:20, getting a trey from Jones and two more from Fenner, before junior Alex Alsadi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) connected for his only two baskets of the night.

The margin increased to 13 (24-11) over the next seven minutes, but the Colonels responded with 14 straight in a span of 4:10 to take their only lead of the contests at 25-24. Guglielmello spurred the run with five points on the first two possessions.

Rossignol then connected from long range and Fenner sandwiched five around a bucket by Stevens to make it 32-27 in favor of the visitors at intermission.

The UNE cushion hovered between five and nine for nearly half of the second period, until a lay-up by Guglielmello trimmed the deficit to four (44-40) with 10:49 left. Curry would get no closer the rest of the way.

The Nor'easter wasted less than a minute restoring the double digit cushion it had before halftime, and peaked the difference at 14 (56-42) with 6:29 on the clock. Big Blue sealed the victory at the charity stripe, where the team sunk 17-of-21 freebies in the second frame and Fenner was 10-for-10 on his own.

UNE concludes its three-game road trip with a visit to Gordon College on Thursday (8 p.m.). The Colonels play at Roger Williams University the same day and time.
