MADISON, Wis. – Following a disappointing loss at Marian University, the Edgewood College men's basketball team used the large crowd at Jam the Gym to forget about that loss. The Eagles built a large lead over Dominican University and it seemed Edgewood College would cruise to victory, but the Stars made a comeback in the second half. Justin Williams brought the Eagles back to life late in the game, leading the Eagles to the 76-59 victory.

Edgewood College (15-4, 9-2 NAC) held an 8-6 lead before Darrius Nelson scored seven straight points for Dominican, putting the Stars up 13-8. However, the Eagle offense started to heat up as Kent Faurote ended the run with back-to-back layups and Williams converted a three-point play to give the lead back to the Eagles. Williams made two more layups before Joe Klocek made it a 16-0 run, and gave Edgewood College a 24-13 lead.

After Nelson made another jump shot, the Eagles scored 10 straight points. Derek Nkemnji capped the run with a pair of layups to give the Eagles a commanding 34-15 lead with more than four minutes left in the first half. In all, the Eagles scored 26 of 28 points over a 7:42 span, and held the Stars without a field for almost six minutes.

Dominican (3-16, 1-10 NAC) outscored the Eagles 11-6 to end the first half to cut their deficit to 40-26 at the break. The Eagles shot 57.7 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from three-point range in the half while the Stars shot 44.0 percent from the floor.

Ben Wisniewski gave the Eagles their largest lead of the game, 52-28 when he converted a three-point play with 15:56 left. Williams again stretched the Edgewood College lead to 24 before Dominican started to work their way back.

Trailing 61-38, a Logan Harris three-point play sparked a 13-2 Dominican run. James Stawarz capped the spurt with a triple that cut the deficit to 63-51 with 8:25 left. However, Wisniewski made a pair of free throws and Williams gave the momentum back to the Eagles with a pair of layups that stretched the lead back to 69-53.

After a Williams three-point play, Cashton Craig iced the game with a jump shot. Williams capped his career-high 23-point performance with a free throw to make the final score 76-59. The Eagles shot a blistering 59.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three-point range in the win. Edgewood College clinched a Northern Athletics Conference Tournament berth with the victory.

Nelson led all scorers with 25 points while Harris chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Stars. Dominican shot 42.4 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from three-point range in the game.

Williams tallied his 23 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor, and 7-for-10 shooting from the charity stripe. Faurote followed Williams with 14 points while Wisniewski and Craig chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
