Medaille Men Shoot "Lights Out" in Rout of Franciscan

More news about: Medaille

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Medaille men's basketball team was knocking down shots with such precision in the 1st half, that the lights when out.  When the power returned and the scoreboard was all zeros, it would show Medaille (85) - Franciscan (48) as Medaille won its 6th straight.

The Mavs have been on a tear as of late, shooting the ball with tremendous accuracy while demonstrating balanced scoring and incredible team basketball.  The Mavs had assists on (21 of 33) field goals while knocking down (58.9%) of their field goal attempts and (52.0%) of their shots from behind the arc.

Leading the way for Medaille was Phil Maiarana who knocked down all six of his three point field goal attempts, as he finished with a game high (22) points.  He also dished out a pair of assists while not committing any turnovers.

The low post for Medaille was also a bright spot as Sean Bellomo came off the bench to drop in (14) points on (6 of 8) shooting while David Shuey went (5 for 6) in an (11) point effort.

The Mavs were stingy on the defensive end of the floor all game long as they forced the Barons into (18) turnovers while limiting the hosts to just (3 of 18) from long range.

In what has become a common trait for this Maverick team, the bench dominated its opponents reserves, as the Mavs got (40) points off the bench to just (8) for the Barons.  Rookie Alex Baron came off the pine to drop in nine points, match a team high with four rebounds, and blocking a game best three shots.

The win pushes Medaille's overall record to (18-2) and they remain atop the AMCC standings all alone at (12-1).  They have a huge home matchup with crosstown rival, and fourth placed, Hilbert College on Wednesday (2/1) at 6:00pm in the Sullivan Center.
