Warhawks Top Blugolds; Improve to 18-2

The Blugolds got the jump out of the gate scoring the first eight points of the game, amassing the biggest lead of the half just 2:05 into the game. The Warhawks answered with an 10-2 run to knot the game 10-10 at 12:42 in the half. UW-EC took the lead back and held it until Alex Edmunds' layup at 6:27 gave Whitewater its first lead of the game, 22-20.The Warhawks led the rest of the way with the biggest lead of seven coming at the halftime buzzer 35-28.

The Warhawks held a 21-14 rebound advantage after the first half. UW-W shot 54% (14-26) from the field compared to just 11-28 (39%) for the Blugolds.

Whitewater's 8-0 run part way into the second half made the score 47-34 at 13:33. UW-EC was able to cut the deficit to single digits only twice the rest of the game with the last time at 10:12 with the score 51-41. It was UW-W the rest of the way with the Warhawks gaining its largest lead, 19, at the 3:35 mark, 62-43. The teams traded points to finish out the game with the final score 67-49 in favor of Whitewater.

UW-EC shot 19-35, 35%, from the field and UW-W posted a 52%, 27-52, shooting percentage. The Warhawks widened the rebound gap in the second half to 44-27. Whitewater had the upper hand in assists recording 13 in the game to Eau Claire's six.

Jordan Petersen was the lone Blugold in double figures scoring 18 points in the game.

Chris Davis led all scorers with 22 points and three blocked shots. Davis grabbed 13 rebounds in the game tying his season high and recording a double double. Eric Bryson added 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Quardell Young rounded out the double digit scorers for the Warhawks with 10.

UW-W will travel to La Crosse to take on the Eagles Wednesday, February 1 at 7:00 pm.
