Rochester Downs Case for A UAA Victory

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nate Novosel scored 23 points and four other players hit in double figures as the University of Rochester defeated Case Western Reserve, 86-68, at the Louis Alexander Palestra. 

Chris Dende scored 15 points (all on three-pointers). John DiBartolomeo scored 14 points as did Rob Reid. Marcus Williams scored 10 points. Rochester is 10-5 overall, 1-3 in the University Athletic Association. DiBartolomeo added seven rebounds, seven assists, one blocked shot, and five steals. Dende and Tyler Siedman had three steals apiece.

Julien Person led the Spartans with 18 points on a perfect shooting night (7-7 on FGs, 4-4 on three-point shots). Tom Summers and David Thompson scored 13 points apiece. Jordan Dean scored seven points with five assists.

Rochester surged in front with runs of 8-0 and 9-0 in the first half. The Yellowjackets led, 48-38, at halftime.

 Case scored the first six points after halftime but Rochester answered with two layups by Reid and a three-pointer from Dende. That got it up to 11, 55-44, with 16:13 left. The Spartans narrowed it to six, but Williams scored four points in an 8-0 sprint to restore a 14-point cushion (63-49, 11:42). It was never under double figures after that.
