NEWTON, MASS. – Norwich University battled back from a 17-point first half deficit but couldn't overcome Lasell during a 72-67 Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss Jan. 19.
The Cadets (4-10 overall, 3-5 GNAC) trailed 7-0 less than three minutes and found themselves on the short end of a 30-13 count midway through the first stanza. However, Coach Paul Booth's team whittled away at the deficit throughout the remainder of the game, getting as close as four but never overtaking the Lasers (7-9, 6-3).
The sophomore-senior duo of guard Tommy McDonald (Groton, Mass.) and forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.) topped the Maroon and Gold's effort. McDonald dropped in a game-high 29 points, marking his third 20-point-plus game this season. Davis added 21 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for his third double-double of the season.
Norwich resumes GNAC play by traveling to Suffolk College in Boston, Mass., Saturday, Jan. 21. Tip-off is 3 p.m.
