GETTYSBURG, Pa. – McDaniel hit 8-of-10 free throws inside the final 47 seconds and the Green Terror held on to beat Gettysburg 54-50 in Centennial Conference men's basketball action Wednesday evening in Bream Gymnasium.

Senior forward Louis Sarris-Grau scored a game-high 18 points for McDaniel (5-10, 2-6 CC), which rallied from an early 12-2 deficit, while senior forward Marcus Dyson grabbed seven rebounds and scored seven of his nine points on foul shots in the game's final minute. Sophomore forward Evan Pupelis added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Green Terror, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Junior guard Alex Zurn scored 16 points for Gettysburg (7-9, 4-5 CC) while junior center Christian Bors posted eight points and seven rebounds.

In a defensive battle, neither side managed to hit a 3-pointer, as the two teams combined to go 0-for-17 from beyond the arc. McDaniel shot 33.3 percent from the floor while Gettysburg hit on 34.7 percent of its shots, and all but 10 of the game's points were scored in the paint or at the free-throw line.

The Green Terror scored five straight points to take its largest lead of the night (44-37) on a Sarris-Grau leaner with 3:06 left. Another Sarris-Grau deuce with 1:21 to go made it 46-40, and although the Bullets scored 10 points in the final minute, it wasn't enough to offset McDaniel's clutch foul shooting.

Gettysburg inched to within four on a layup from senior guard Brendan Trelease with 1:02 remaining, and later on a pair of foul shots from Zurn with 20 seconds left. Junior guard Larry Geedey cut it to three (51-48) with his coast-to-coast lay-up with 12 ticks showing before Dyson went 1-of-2 at foul line. Trelease was then fouled on his running 3-point attempt from the left elbow with five seconds left, and he went 2-of-3 at the stripe to make it 52-50. But Dyson clinched it by sinking two more foul shots one second later.

The Bullets held McDaniel scoreless for an 8:40 stretch during their game-opening run, with Zurn scoring six points during the stretch. A Joe Emerusabe jumper gave the Bullets their 12-2 lead with 13:15 on the clock, but Gettysburg would manage just eight points over the rest of the half. McDaniel came back to tie it on a Doug Macrone bucket with 2:10 left, but a lay-up from Bors with 1:29 remaining gave the Bullets a 20-18 halftime lead.

McDaniel took its first lead on a conventional 3-point play from Sarris-Grau with 19:17 left, and a back-and-forth remainder of the game would include two ties and six lead changes.
