HARRISONBURG, VA – Andre Simon's running, 35 foot, three-pointer as time expired propelled Randolph-Macon to a 74-71 victory over Eastern Mennonite Wednesday night.  R-MC has now won six in a row to improve to 12-3 overall and 5-2 in the ODAC.

Trailing 71-69 with 20 seconds to play, the Yellow Jackets' Calvin Croskey tied the contest at 71 with a pair of free-throws.

On EMU's ensuing possession, R.J. Sims drove to the hoop only to be blocked by Adam Desgain.  Simon then picked the ball up and was able to dribble just over half court and get the game-winning shot off as the horn sounded.

It was the first three-point field goal attempt of Simon's career and helped him finish with seven points in the win.  It also marks the second time this season R-MC has beaten EMU with a three-pointer at the buzzer.  A Croskey trifecta sent R-MC to a 87-86 win back on December 3rd.

Croskey and Desgain each dropped in four three-pointers each to lead the Yellow Jackets with 16 and 15 points, respectively.   Dylan Cole finished with 12 points, while Lamar Giggetts finished with 10.    The quartet all finished with seven rebounds as well to help R-MC to a 45-33 edge on the boards.

R-MC came out of the gates quick, knocking down five of its first seven shots, taking an 11-0 lead on a Giggetts jumper two and a half minutes in.

EMU battled back with a 15-5 run of its own.  The Royals pulled within one at 16-15 when Adam Burroughs drained a three pointer with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets were able to respond with a 12-3 run of their own, taking back a double-figure lead when Cole made a pair of free-throws to give R-MC a 28-18 advantage.

The Royals would score 11 of the final 13 points of the half to send the teams to the locker room with Randolph-Macon up 30-29.

The second-half proved to be close throughout with neither team able to open up more than a six point advantage during the second stanza.

EMU (6-8 / 1-4 ODAC) was led by Burroughs and Andrew Thorne with 13 points each. James Williams finished with 11, while Dajon Daniel chipped in with 10.

Randolph-Macon will continue its three-game ODAC road swing when it heads to Emory & Henry on Saturday.  Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
