The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a tough one point defeat (52-51) to the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNYAC home contest played on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (8-8, 2-2 CUNYAC) had two shot attempts for the winning basket with five seconds remaining, but the final shot, a tip-in off the missed first shot, teased the home crowd by rolling around the rim and out to keep the visiting Lightning (8-7, 4-0 CUNYAC) undefeated in the CUNYAC standings.

The Bearcats led 24-18 at halftime and were up by as much as eight points during the second half, but the Lightning rallied back in the final minutes.

They completed their comeback with seven seconds left as Mathias Raggiotto grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and quickly scored on a layup to give their team the 52-51 advantage and eventual final score.

The Lightning shot a torrid 58.3 percent (14-24) in the second half, while the Bearcats shot 36.4 percent (12-33). The game changed lead 10 times throughout the evening.
