ROCHESTER, NY - The Medaille College men's basketball team saw their nine game season opening win streak come to an end in overtime of the opener of the Woodcliff Spa & Hotel Invitational at St. John Fisher College as Dickinson College outlasted the Mavs (75-72) in extra time. The Mavs led throughout much of the game but a late three in regulation followed by some clutch shooting in OT led to the loss.

In what was a very tight game it seemed Medaille had things under control in the waning moments but a hot shooting Adam Hoing drilled a game tying three pointer with just two seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. The Mavs would strike first in the extra frame when Angel Flores converted a traditonal three point play to give the Mavs a three point edge. The Mavs would hod the lead throughout most of the overtime period but a driving layup by Dickinson with (1:24) remaining would knot the score at (72-72). The Mavs were unable to connect on any of their ensuing field goal attempts while Dickinson knocked down three shots from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the victory.

The Mavs were led in the scoring column by Jammal Coleman who was (4 for 9) from the floor, finishing with (12) points. Also chipping in with a dozen points was Steve Bryant who knocked down three shots from behind the arc. Coming off the bench to be a defensive force was Sean Bellomo as he blocked a career and game high five shots to go along with seven points and four boards.

The Mavs came up with a season high (16) steals in the game as they forced Dickinson into (23) turnovers. The Mavs turned those miscues into (23) points on the other end of the floor. However, some critical turnovers of their own down the stretch doomed the Mavs as they were looking for their tenth straight win.

The loss is the first for Medaille this season as they fall to (9-1) overall. They will face the loser of the St. John Fisher/Westminster game tomorrow (12/30) at 1:00pm in the consolation game of the tournament. SEASON STATS
