DelConte Scores 1,000th Point In Gwynedd-Mercy's 88-78 Win Over Rowan

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Senior Dan DelConte scored a game-high 28 points, including the 1,000th of his career to help lead Gwynedd-Mercy to an 88-78 non-league win over Rowan Tuesday evening.

DelConte was one of four Griffins to finish in double-digit scoring as the Griffins won their third in a row. His milestone moment came at the 14:09 mark of the second. Sitting at 23 points shy of the mark before the game, he would step to the free-throw line needing one. He would hit the second of the two attempts to get a standing ovation from the crowd.

Junior Frank Champion added 14 points and game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double on the year. As a team, GMC had five players with five or more rebounds, as they dominated the glass, 43-26.

Kendall White netted 24 of his 26 points in the second half for the Profs. Teammates Rich McNamara and Phil Jackson each added 12 respectively.

The Griffins (8-3) shot a scorching 60% (18-of-30) in the first half and used a 23-5 run to lead 49-27 at the half.

GM would lead by as much as 27 twice early in the second before the Profs put together some offense to slowly climb back in it. Rowan (4-6) hit eight of their 12 three-pointers on the night in the second stanza and found themselves down by 10 with just over two minutes to play.

DelConte and Champion were able to cement the win by combining to go 6-of-8 from the free-throw line down the stretch.

Senior Brandon Sharp chipped in 10 points and seven caroms while Brandon Williams netted 11 points and pulled down five boards.

White would drain four three-pointers while Jackson and Jason Rosenberg sank three apiece. McNamara led Rowan with eight rebounds.
