GALLOWAY, N.J. – CUA is off to its best start in over 80 years after the Cardinals downed Richard Stockton 72-65 on Saturday afternoon.  CUA improves to 8-0 for the first time since the 1927-28 season, when the Cardinals won their first ten games.

Freshman Steve Limberiou tied his career high with 25 points on the afternoon, drilling seven 3-pointers.  Limberiou scored 25 points in CUA's previous game vs. DeSales and currently leads the Cardinals with a 15.8 per game average.

The Cardinals shot it very well all game, connecting on 52.4% from the field, including a staggering 75% showing from downtown (15-20).  Shawn Holmes hit all five of his 3-point attempts, while Billy Donovan sank 3 of 5.  Holmes (18) and Donovan (14) both finished in double figures.

CUA led by three at halftime, but Richard Stockton went on an 8-0 run to begin the second and jumped in front 42-37.

The Cardinals responded with the next eight, capped by a Limberiou 3-pointer to go back in front 45-42, but Rich Suhr answered down the other end with a three of his own to tie things at 45.

Back-to-back trifectas from Holmes and Donovan with under ten minutes to play gave CUA a 56-47 advantage, and Darrell Carroll's jumper at the 7:45 mark made it a 60-49 lead.

Three straight free throws from Suhr with 2:44 remaining pulled the Ospreys to within 66-61, but Donovan sank two free throws after being fouled to up the lead to seven.

An Ibn Moye 3-pointer and Salman Yusuff foul shot brought Richard Stockton to within just three with 15 seconds on the clock, but a pair of Holmes free throws and an Andy Roell layup at the buzzer lifted the Cardinals to their eighth straight win.

Bolstered by Limberiou's 25 points, CUA outscored Richard Stockton 36-18 in bench points. 

The Ospreys held the edge in points off turnovers (23-11) and points in the paint (16-8), but the Cardinals won the battle on the boards, pulling down 31 rebounds to Richard Stockton's 24

DlAndre Brown hit for a game-high 29 points for Richard Stockton, sinking 10 of 13 shots, including four 3-pointers.  Suhr and Bill McDonough finished with 10 points apiece, with McDonough also leading the way with nine caroms.

The game was tight in the early going with CUA opening up a 20-14 lead off of 3-pointers by Holmes and Limberiou.  The Ospreys battled back and tied things at 20, but 3-pointers by Limberiou and Donovan, plus a Donovan free throw again gave the Cardinals the lead, this time 29-23.

Jared Prince's jumper at the 2:05 mark gave CUA its largest lead up to that point at eight, but the Ospreys scored 8 of the final 11 points to get to within 37-34 at halftime.

CUA gets right back at it on Monday evening when the Cardinals return home and welcome Mt. Aloysius to town.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from inside the DuFour Center.
