Burridge's Career Night Leads Oswego State To Win at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Senior Chad Burridge set a new career-high in points and rebounds to lead the Oswego State (6-1) men's basketball team to a 80-63 win at Brockport (1-6, 0-1 SUNYAC) and move the Lakers to 3-0 in SUNYAC play this season.

Burridge (Hannibal, N.Y.) finished the game with 40 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots. The point total, which is tied for fifth all-time in school history, replaced his previous career-best of 33 set against Brockport last season. The rebounding total, which included nine offensive rebounds, topped his previous career best by two. The blocked shots also ranks fifth all-time in school history.

Burridge scored the game's first four points, while Hayden Ward (Jr., Montauk, N.Y.) added the final basket in a 6-0 run to start the game. The Lakers never looked back, going on another 12-0 run, to extend the lead to 22-6 just eight minutes into the game.

The Lakers led by as many as 15 in the first half and led 41-27 when Sean Michele (Sr., East Rochester, N.Y.) hit a three just before halftime.

Ward, on a pass from Connor Monaghan (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) pushed the lead over 20 for the first time at 59-38. Ward finished with a career-high four steals and added yet another double-double this season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lakers led by as many as 25 before Brockport closed the gap to 15 at the final buzzer.

Monaghan finished with 11 points and four assists, while Sean Michele (Sr., East Rochester, N.Y.) led the team with six assists. 

With his career game, Burridge moved past Jim Bason (1973-77) into fifth on the school's all-time scoring list. Burridge also moved up two spots on the all-time rebounding list, passing Jeff Williams (1997-01) and Ahman Mims (2002-06) into fifth.

The Lakers will try to remain perfect in league play when they travel to Fredonia on Friday and visit 16th-ranked Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon.
