NORTHFIELD, VT. – Senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.) helped highlight Norwich University's semifinal round game in the 2011 Ed Hockenbury Classic Dec. 3.

Davis, producing a game-high 23 points on nine-of-16 shooting, reached his 1000th career point midway through the first half. Despite his efforts, the host Cadets slipped to 1-4 as Worcester State (2-3) took advantage of 66.7 percent shooting in the second half to rally for a 76-69 victory.

Coach Paul Booth's squad got a fast start in front of its home crowd inside Andrews Gymnasium. NU led 39-34 at halftime and held the lead inside of 13 minutes to play. However, the Lancers whittled away and overtook the Maroon and Gold for good with 7:19 to play after junior guard Kyle Ferreira drained a three-pointer. Norwich tied it at 60-60 and 64-64 after that but couldn't regain the lead. Worcester State scored 12 of the game's final 17 points to salt away the win.

Davis was joined in double figures by junior guard Josh Cabrera (Providence, R.I.). Cabrera proved strong inside and out by canning three treys and scoring 19 points.

Norwich meets SUNY-Purchase, who was defeated 92-56 by No. 7-ranked Williams in the other semifinal, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the consolation championship. Williams and Worcester State clash in the final at 3 p.m.
