MEADVILLE, Pa. – Baldwin-Wallace rode the strength its formidable front line en route to a 79-61 victory over Allegheny at the David V. Wise Center, Wednesday night, in non-conference action. The Yellowjackets scored 22 points off of turnovers and manufactured 11 second-chance points to keep the Gators from rallying in front of another strong home crowd.

James Ness pieced together another solid effort, even though he was out-sized by Baldwin-Wallace's impressive array of bigs. Ness finished with 20 points on 5-of-7 shooting and was 10-of-13 at the free-throw line.

The Gators closed the night 23-of-30 at the charity stripe, but were held to just 35% shooting from the floor. Allegheny converted just eight of its 24 field-goal attempts in the second half and shot 4-of-16 from the perimeter for the game.

Conversely, Baldwin-Wallace shot nearly 48% from the field while scoring nearly half of its points in the paint. The Yellowjackets helped themselves by forcing 18 turnovers, including eight steals, and after giving up the game's opening basket, they never trailed.

Although the score indicated a blow-out, the game was competitive throughout much of the night. Baldwin-Wallace was able to slowly build its advantage while Allegheny was unable to convert its opportunities at the other end. The Yellowjackets boasted their first double-digit lead of the night with three minutes left in the first half, and went to the locker room at the break holding a 40-30 lead.

A three by Devone McLeod helped the Gators cut the deficit to six (43-37) four minutes into the second half, but an 8-3 run moved the deficit back to double figures, where it remained for the rest of the tilt. The B-W lead was still just a dozen with six minutes left on the clock, but consecutive turnovers turned into back-to-back three's for the visitors and the Gators were unable to recover.

In addition to Ness, McLeod and David DiBernardi also posted double figures in scoring. McLeod finished with 13 points while DiBernardi matched his career high by chipping in 12 for the second straight game.

Baldwin-Wallace leading scorer Kyle Payne finished with 20 points to pace the Yellowjackets on Wednesday, while three other players also scored in double digits.
