MAHWAH, NJ—Despite season-high performances from freshmen Ross Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights/Blair Academy-NJ) and Mark Bevacqua (Lenoxville, Pa./Blair Academy-NJ), The University of Scranton dropped an 86-82 decision in overtime to Ramapo College Monday evening at the Bradley Center.

Danzig connected on 9 of 12 shots from the field and finished with 25 points and seven rebounds and Bevacqua had 15 points and six rebounds as the Royals lost their second straight game to fall to 2-2.  Scranton also received 15 points and five rebounds from sophomore guard Tommy Morgan (Greenlawn, NY/Chaminade) and 13 points and nine rebounds from junior guard Travis Farrell (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy).

Junior guard Will Sanborn (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional) led five Ramapo players in double figures with 24 points and junior guard Jermaine Emanuel (Englewood, NJ/Laney), junior forward Stephon Treadwell (Newark, NJ/Seton Hall Preparatory), and senior forwards LaQuan Peterkin (Paterson, NJ/John F. Kennedy) and Rich Grant (Chestnut Ridge, NY/Paramus Catholic) chipped in 11 points apiece.  With the win, the Roadrunners improved to 5-1 on the season.

After shooting nearly 66 percent from the field in the second half, the Royals went cold in the overtime period, connecting on just one of seven shots attempts.  Scranton also turned the ball over twice in the final minute of the extra stanza and the Roadrunners responded with two free throws apiece by Treadwell, Thiel and Emanuel to build up enough of a cushion to hold on for the victory.

The game was a nip and tuck affair, featuring nine ties and 20 lead changes. Scranton's largest lead was seven points, 54-47 with 11:59 remaining in regulation, while Ramapo's biggest margin was four points, all of which came in the overtime period.

The win was the first in the series for Ramapo, which lost the previous two meetings to Scranton, 70-67 on November 24, 2007, at the Bradley Center and 73-49 on November 22, 2008, at the Long Center.

The Royals will host Moravian College this Saturday, December 3, in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams at the Long Center beginning at 2:00 p.m.
