SEGUIN, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team opened the 2011-12 season with a 79-63 loss to Texas Lutheran on Saturday afternoon in Memorial Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 44-33 halftime advantage and led by as many as 27 points with 6:22 remaining (76-49).
Sophomore Brandon Blake led the Choctaws with 13 points, going 7-8 from the free throw line. Seniors Greg Pulliam and Marlon Ester chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Seniors Chad Jones and Trevon Malone led MC with eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
The Choctaws, however, struggled from the three-point line, only going 2-17. MC also turned the ball over 19 times with only seven assists.
Isaac Williams led the Bulldogs with 24 points and seven rebounds, while Justin Lindsey scored 19.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Monday night when they travel to face Schreiner at 5:30 p.m.
