Maroons Suffer Season's First Loss

CHICAGO -- Lake Forest College's Jeff Beck scored a game-high 20 points to lead the visiting Foresters to a 63-58 win over the University of Chicago in non-conference men's basketball action Tuesday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Game Summary

Chicago (2-1) trailed for most of the first half before taking a 32-31 lead at the intermission. Chase Davis' basket with 16:10 left in the game gave the Maroons their final lead of the night, 39-37.

Lake Forest (2-1) then used a 17-5 run to build a 54-44 advantage at the 7:12 mark. Chicago got within three points, 59-56, with 1:02 to go, but the Foresters held on for the victory.

Statistical Highlights

Matt Johnson paced Chicago with 18 points, while Steve Stefanou added 11.

Travis Clark posted a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds) for Lake Forest.

Notes

Tuesday's game marked Chicago's 86th meeting with Lake Forest -- the most against any opponent in the program's 108-year history.

The loss snapped the Maroons' three-game home winning streak.
