BUFFALO, NY - After a very sluggish first half the Medaille College men's basketball team shook out the cobwebs and ran past visiting SUNY-IT for a (77-64) non-conference victory in the Sullivan Center.

Both teams struggled to find any rhythm in the games opening minutes as shots clanged off the rim and loose balls were abundant all over the floor.  With about seven minutes remaining in the opening frame the two teams began to connect on their shots with SUNY-IT holding a slight edge down the stretch, taking a five point (31-26) lead into halftime.

The Wildcats would add a pair of free throws to that lead in the opening seconds of the second half after David Shuey was called for his third personal foul.  The teams would trade buckets over the next several minutes before a Tyler Stevens three pointer knotted the game at (37-37) with (14:50) remaining.

The visitors would regain the lead quickly and hold a slight edge for the better part of the next eight minutes (the Mavs would sprinkle in a few ties) but the tide really began to turn when the Mavs grabbed their first lead since midway through the first half when Stevens drained a jumper with (6:22) left to play for a (51-49) Maverick lead.  Just fifteen seconds later SUNY-IT would convert a traditional three point play to gain a one point edge, however, it would be their last lead of the game.

The Mavs would go on a (10-0) run and ultimately outscore the Wildcats (26-12) down the stretch en route to the win.

Three Mavs would hit double digits in the scoring ledger with Sean Bellomo coming off the bench to lead the way.  He posted a double/double as he finished with (14) points and (14) rebounds while also blocking three shots.  Stevens knocked down three shots from long range and finished with (13) points while Angel Flores had (10) points and dished out (4) assists.

The Maverick bench continues to dominate the reserves off their opponents pine as they outscored their counterparts (34-12).  The Mavs also won the battle of the paint (28-18).

The win keeps Medaille perfect thus far in the 2011-12 campaign as they improve to (4-0).  They will head on the road for the first time when they face Cazenovia College on Saturday (11/26) at 4:00pm in non-conference action.
