CHICAGO -- Matt Johnson and Tom Williams combined to score 42 points as the University of Chicago defeated Franklin College 83-68 in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Game Summary

Franklin (1-1) scored the game's first nine points, but the Maroons quickly recaptured the lead, 12-11. The Grizzlies held their last edge of the night, 22-20, with 7:09 to go in the first half before Chicago (2-0) rallied to take 37-31 lead at the intermission.

Chicago held a single-digit lead for the first 12 minutes of the second half, then led by at least 10 points for the final 7:51.

Statistical Highlights

Johnson led the way for Chicago with a game-high 26 points, while Williams and Tommy Sotos added 16 and 11, respectively.

Bailey Howard paced Franklin with 20 points. Clay Starrett chipped in 12.
