Rangers Cruise Past Warriors in Opener

The Rangers led wire-to-wire, scoring the game's first eight points and opening the night on a 17-5 run. Capers had the hot hand early, scoring seven of the first 10 Drew points, ending the first half with 14 on 5-of-11 shooting.

Terrell Brown (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) wasnt far behind, finishing the first half with nine of his 11 points, helping the Rangers take a 36-point lead at the half. Brown finished his night with a three rebounds and added two assists.

With the game well at hand, Head Coach Darryl Keckler had a look at all 19 of his players in game action. The balanced scoring attack was highlighted by John Ford (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) and Luke Mullaney (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) who each had eight points off the bench. For Ford, the eight points eclipsed a new career-high in just 14 minutes on the floor. Mullaney led the team with three assists and pulled down five rebounds.

Besides Capers who added seven points in the second half, freshman Robby Bier (Milford, Conn./Fairfield Prep) tallied six points in seven minutes of action to lead the Ranger in the final period of play.  Starting center Lucas Levenson (Margate City, N.J./Atlantic City) led the Rangers with seven rebounds, with six of them coming on the offensive end.

The Rangers will hit the road and travel to Gettysburg for the annual Days Inn Tournament. Drew will take on Hood College at 8:00 p.m. this Friday. Depending on the outcome of Friday's game the Rangers will play either Ohio Northern or Gettysburg at a time to be announced on Saturday.
