(Geneva, NY) – The Medaille College men's basketball team found itself in a back and forth battle against Brockport State this evening in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate Tournament.  The game saw 15 lead changes and 13 ties, but the Mavs would prevail (71-68), propelling them into the championship game tomorrow at 2:00pm versus Hobart.

Leading the way for Medaille was senior Ricky Reed (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) who poured in a game high (27) points on (11 of 17) shooting from the floor, including knocking down all three of his attempts from behind the arc.

Senior Ron Malicki (Machias, NY/Pioneer) finished with (18) points, many of which came from the charity stripe as he was (10 of 11) in the game. Meanwhile fellow senior Joe Mogavero (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) attacked the glass for a team high (11) boards.

The victory is the 200th for head coach Mike MacDonald who has transformed the previously beleaguered Maverick program into a nationally respected one.  Coach Mac has taken the Mavs to a pair of NCAA and ECAC tournaments thus far in his Medaille career.

The win pushes the Mavs record to (21-7) on the season.  In their game tomorrow against Hobart, the Mavs will look to become the first team in school history to win an ECAC title.
