The Baruch College Bearcats lost to the Ducks from the Stevens Institute of Technology, 91-76, in an ECAC Metro Postseason Tournament quarterfinal round contest on Wednesday night in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Stevens advance to the semifinal round on Saturday, March 5, to play the winner of the #3 Rutgers-Newark/#6 Staten Island quarterfinal, while the Bearcats finish their 2010-11 season with a 15-12 record (15-10 vs Division III).
The two teams played to a high-scoring affair with the home team Ducks leading the Bearcats by one point (40-39) at halftime. Stevens shot 59 percent (17-29) in the opening 20 minutes of play.
In the second half, Stevens broke open the competitive quarterfinal (58-56) in the final 10 minutes of regulation by connecting on 13 of their final 19 shots as part of a 33-15 run to seal the 91-76 victory.
Overall, Stevens finished shooting a torrid 58 percent (38-66), while the Bearcats shot 39 percent (29-75).
Sean Loftusled the visiting Bearcats with 25 points (11-16 fg) and nine rebounds. Chris Beauchamptotaled 18 points and six rebounds, while Arki Wisnuhad a solid game off the bench with 13 points, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer as the first half expired.
