INDIANOLA - Cornelius Mosby, Zack Barragan and JJ Vanderheiden combined for 62 points and Simpson snapped a four-game losing streak with a 97-85 win over Buena Vista on Wednesday night.

Mosby posted his third double-double of the season, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds to go along with two blocked shots. Barragan scored 16 in a first half that saw him go 4-for-4 from 3-point range, finishing with 21 points off 5 of 8 shooting from distance.

Vanderheiden matched a career-high with 20 points, adding eight rebounds for the Storm (10-14, 7-8 Iowa Conference), who swept Buena Vista for the first time since the 1995-96 season and reached 10 wins for the first time since 2007.

Elijah Knox and Stefon Brown contributed seven assists each.

The win moved Simpson into a three-way tie for fifth in the conference. With only one game remaining in the regular season, one game seperates five teams fighting for four spots in next week's league tournament.

After shooting a combined 40.5 percent in the previous four games, Simpson shot 56.4 percent from the field and connected on 28 of 35 free throws Wednesday.

Wes Nordquist went for 28 points and 14 rebounds for the Beavers (10-14, 7-8). Jeff Janssen added 16 points, all coming in the second half.

Simpson held an 18-16 lead with 12:33 to go in the opening period before outscoring Buena Vista 29-15 the reaminder of the half. Vanderheiden's jumper as time expired gave the Storm a 47-31 edge at the break.

Simpson led by as many as 25 in the second half before watching the lead dwindle to seven with 1:46 left in the game. But Knox got behind the press for an open layup to make the score 91-82 with 1:43 left, effectively ending Buena Vista's rally.

Simpson closes the regular season Saturday, hosting Cornell in a 4 p.m. tipoff at Cowles Fieldhouse. The Storm beat the Rams (3-12, 8-16) in the first meeting, 68-61 on Jan. 5 in Mt. Vernon.
