Framingham, MA --- Dave Douillette (Bridgewater, MA) erupted for a career-high 27 points and Ryan Testagrossa recorded an unusual double-double to pace visiting Worcester State to an important 70-64 MASCAC men's basketball road win over Framingham State on Saturday evening. Both teams are now 4-4 in conference play, locked in a four-way tie with Bridgewater State and Westfield State for third place in the seven-team loop
After Framingham State knotted the game at 64 with 1:30 remaining, the Lancers recaptured the lead for good eight second later on a Douillette transition layup off a feed from Monte Goodwin (Boston, MA). The Rams missed a 3-pointer on their ensuing possession and Goodwin pushed the WSU advantage to 68-64 with a layup with 38 seconds left. The Lancer defense stiffened again and Douillette iced the game with a pair of free throws in the waning moments of the game.
Douillette canned 12-of-16 shots from the field and added seven rebounds. Testagrossa shook off a cold-shooting night by totaling game-bests of 10 assists and 10 boards. The senior was particularly effective of the defensive glass, where he corralled nine of his 10 rebounds. Goodwin chipped in with 12 points while Emmanuel Ferraud (Worcester, MA) filled the stat sheets with six points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal.
Adeyemi Ajao (Randolph, MA) highlighted three Rams in double figures in scoring with 21 points on the night. The rookie drained 9-of-11 of his field goal attempts, including all six of his first half tries, to along with three steals. Marcus Malaurin (Braintree, MA) and Tyrone Figueroa (Revere, MA) deposited 15 and 12 points respectively for the Rams, who doled out 17 assists on 23 made field goals. Five different Rams handed out multiple assists led by Brendan Carter's (South Boston, MA) four.
Worcester State (6-15, 4-4 MASCAC) shot a sizzling 53.1% from the field for the game and enjoyed a 39-32 advantage on the boards. The Lancers turned 13 offensive rebounds into a 16-6 edge in second chance points. Framingham State (8-11, 4-4 MASCAC) parlayed 22 WSU turnovers into 18 points.
Both teams return to the hardwood on Tuesday at 8pm. Worcester State hosts Fitchburg State while Framingham ventures to the Witch City to take on Salem State.
