Leicester, Mass. – After shooting just 23-percent in the opening half the Daniel Webster men's basketball team hit 57-percent from the field in the second frame but couldn't catch up with host Becker College as the Hawks posted a 75-63 victory over the Eagles in a NECC matchup Saturday at Becker College.

Rajai Leggett led the league-leading Hawks (16-3, 8-0 NECC) with a game high 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Markus Wright notched 16 points and 11 boards and Trae Jacobs scored 13 points with six caroms.

Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) led the Eagles (9-8, 3-4 NECC) with 13 points including three three-pointers, while Keith Speed (Columbus, Ohio) and Eric Suarez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched 10 apiece. John Hickson (Springfield, Mass.) and Omari Wright (Laurelton, N.Y.) added seven off the bench.

The tough first half-shooting led to a 37-24 deficit at the break and the Becker lead would grow to as many as 26 in the second and DWC would pull closer than 20 until the final three minutes of the contest.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday night when they host Lesley in a NECC matchup tipping off at 8:00 p.m.
