BC Men Cruise To 81-71 Win Over Lehman

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team picked up a huge conference win on Wednesday evening as they dominated Lehman, earning the 81-71 victory and improving to 4-2 in league play. With the loss, Lehman fell to 9-8, 4-2 in conference play.

Lehman was up early, taking a 5-2 lead 3:39 into the game, however a Steven Grant bucket sparked a 13-0 run that would give Brooklyn a stronghold on the game and the Bulldogs would never look back.

Brooklyn was able to raise their first-half lead to as many as 19 points, 34-15, with 6:27 remaining.  Lehman put up some resistance to cut the lead to 15 headed into the intermission as the scoreboard read 44-29 BC.

The two teams went a good deal of the second half trading baskets as the margin remained at 15 five minutes into the stanza.  Brooklyn scored baskets from Ahmad Hemingway and Amil John over the next minute to push their lead to 19, 52-33, however Lehman would answer with a 12-1 run to cut the lead to eight, 53-45.

The Lighting defense could not sustain the pace, as they allowed Brooklyn to answer back with an 11-4 run of their own, capped off by a Tyshawn Russell bucket,  to push the lead back to 17.  Lehman got no closer than eight for the remainder of the contest as Brooklyn held on for the 10-point victory.

Tyshawn Russell led Brooklyn with 27 points and 5 assists.  Russell shot an amazing 17 of 18 from the free throw line, helping his team go 22 of 26 from the charity stripe.

John was big for Brooklyn as well, chipping in with 17 points, while Darnell Cudjoe added 11 points and 12 boards, while Hemingway rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points to go along with 5 assists.

Jonathan DeJesus led Lehman with 22 points and 18 rebounds. 

Brooklyn will travel to Baruch on Friday night to take on Baruch while Lehman will head home to host York on Saturday.
