UW-Superior runs over UW-Stout

UW-Stout shot just 31 percent from the field and 13 percent from beyond the arc, while UW-Superior shot 56 percent from the floor and 48 from 3-point range as the Yellowjackets defeated Stout, 88-56, Wednesday night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

With 11 minutes left in the first half, the Yellowjackets (11-6, 3-5 WIAC) went on a 24-6 run over the next five minutes to take a commanding 19-point lead.  Stout (7-9, 2-6 WIAC) cut into that lead, but still trailed by 18 at halftime. 

Superior did not stop there.  They reeled of a 10-0 run early in the second half, followed shortly by a game-clinching 14-4 run, and led by 37 points with seven minutes remaining in the game.

Superior's Ben Aalfs scored a game-high 24 points, including 6-10 shooting from beyond the arc.  Jake Smith also added 20 for the Jackets.  Jordan Nelsonled Stout with 13 points.  The Blue Devils' leading scorer, Eric Hostetter, finished the game with a season-low eight points, shooting 2-13 from the field, including 1-9 from the three-point line.
