Rust College men basketball team beat Piedmont College men's basketball team earlier this afternoon in the Cave by six points a 100-94 decision.  After it seemed that Rust would get out of Demorest with a double-digit victory, a furious comback by the Lions made it tight down the stretch though the Bearcats held on for the six point road win, Rust College tenth win of the season.

After the opening tip-off, the two teams started out hot trading shot for shot in the first few minutes combining to miss only a single try from the field in the first four minutes. It was Piedmont who pulled away first in the match-up taking a 13-8 lead on a pair of three-point buckets from Will Skaggs and Michael Ross The visiting Bearcats tied up the action up for the seventh time with just over two minutes remaining in the first half as the score pushed to 40-40. Rust would then begin to take control scoring seven straight points to take a 47-40 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Bearcats continued to hold a lead with Markeith Wilson and  Jahrell Holmes taking control of the game on offense that eventually moved into a game-high 17 points and looked to be the end of the Lions. Piedmont would continue to battle down the stretch bringing the Bearcats' advantage back down to single digits until a spectacular four-point play from the sophomore Ross cut the lead down to just three with just under two minutes to play.

With the action tightening up, Piedmont gave the Bearcats all they could handle down the stretch continuously hitting shots from the outside to stay within striking distance. However, after the two teams continued to go point for point, Rust was able to hang on for the six-point road win despite the late PC rally.

Markeith Wilson lead the team with a game high 30 and Jahrell Holmes had 21 points they combine for 51 points. the win push Rust record to 10-6 for the 2010-11 season
