Ferrum, Va. -- Derek Mitchell had 26 points and 10 rebounds as 22nd-ranked Ferrum College held off Greensboro College, 69-61, on Wednesday night. Damian Dixon (Tampa, FL/Wharton) had 17 points for GC (7-6, 1-1 USA South).

The Panthers (14-1, 2-0) led at the break, 33-25. A Mitchell's free throw gave FC its biggest lead, 49-36, with 15:02 left. The Pride cut the deficit to four points twice in the last 3:29, but got no closer.
