Brooklyn Falls at William Patterson, 68-44

Wayne, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game to the Pioneers of William Patterson University earlier tonight by a score of 68-44. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 6-7 overall on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 10-4 on the year.

Host William Patterson got off to a quick start in the game as Nick Allan drilled a pair of three-pointers to put the Pioneers up 6-0 through the first two and a half minutes of play. Back-to-back buckets from sophomore Christopher Guttadaro and junior Amil John cut Brooklyn's deficit to 6-4 with 15:37 left to play before the break, but that's as close as the Bulldogs would get for the rest of the first half as William Patterson took control of the game utilizing a 15-0 run over the next eight and a half minutes to take a 21-4 advantage at the 7:07 mark. A jumper from senior Ahmad Hemingway with 7:01 left in the half ended the Pioneers run. William Patterson would cruise the rest of the way forcing Brooklyn into 15 first half turnovers, eight coming via steal, to head into halftime with a 19-point lead, 34-15. The Pioneers (14-for-27) doubled the Bulldogs (7-for-15) in made field goals in the half, while also connecting on 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

The Pioneers continued to dominate the Bulldogs in the second half as William Patterson would grow its lead to as many as 35 with 11:09 left in the game. The Pioneers shot 54.7% (29-for-53) for the game to coast to the 68-44 win, while Brooklyn was held to 36.4% (16-for-44) shooting from the field. The Bulldogs also struggled from three failing to convert from downtown, going 0-for-11 from beyond the arc for the game. The Pioneers also held the rebounding edge, 35-27, and scored 32 points off of 25 Brooklyn turnovers.

Sophomore Kavon Baker led all scorers for Brooklyn netting a game-high 13 points. Guttadaro finished the game with 10 points, to go along with a game-high nine rebounds. John finished with eight points while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

William Patterson was led by Femi Agunbiade and Gabriel Paul, as each notched 12 points. The Pioneers spread the scoring load around with 13 players registering at least one point.

Brooklyn returns to action this Friday, January 14th as the Bulldogs will travel to Hunter College to take on the Hawks in a CUNY Athletic Conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
