Baruch Overcomes Strong Start by John Jay to Win (81-71), Hilaire Scores 27 points

The men's basketball team defeated the Bloodhounds of John Jay College, 81-71, in a CUNYAC contest on Wednesday night in New York City.

The visiting Bearcats (7-5, 2-0 CUNYAC) trailed twice in the first half by 10 points, but battled back to trail by a deficit of 40-35 at halftime. 

During the second half, they rallied to tie the contest on four different occasions and finally took the lead on a layup by
Sean Loftusfor a 60-58 advantage with 6:38 remaining.

They would finish the final six minutes by outscoring the Bloodhounds, 21-13, to record the 81-71 victory in their first game against an unranked opponent since December 12 against Yeshiva.

Lionel Hilairescored the first five points of the contest and finished with 27 points (10-13 fg) and two steals. Chris Beauchampscored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Loftus recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Tammer Farid(four assists) and Arki Wisnu(2-3, 3fg) finished with eight points each.

Jerome Alexander led John Jay (5-8, 0-2 CUNYAC) with 23 points.

Baruch will return home on Friday in the ARC Arena with a CUNYAC contest against rival Hunter College. Please note the updated start time of 5:30 pm.
