Senior guard Alex Healy had 18 points, four steals and four assists and No. 7-ranked St. Thomas (10-0 overall, 5-0 MIAC) shot 61 percent from the field with only seven turnovers in Monday night's 90-58 MIAC men's basketball win over St. Mary's (8-2, 3-2) at Schoenecker Arena.
Five different Tommies scored during a 20-0 run in a 6:22 span to open the second half. That pushed the UST lead to 62-35.
Sophomore Chris Palmer had a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds and senior Will Wright had 18 points for the Cardinals, who shot just 37 percent and were outrebounded 21-12 in the second half.
St. Thomas pulled away with a 36-4 advantage in bench points. Six different players had nine or more points for Coach Steve Fritz' Tommies, who have a 10-0 start for the second time in three seasons.
Senior foward Anders Halvorsen had all 10 of his points in the second half. Senior guard Tyler Nicolai had 11 points, five steals and four assists, and sophomore guard Will DeBerg had 11 points.
UST has won 22 consecutive regular-season games and 52 in a row when it shoots 49 percent or better from the floor. The Toms moved back into sole possession of the conference lead as Gustavus lost at home in overtime to Hamline.
The Toms face 4-0 Carleton at home Wednesday night.
