Hanson Earns NECC "Player of the Week" Nod

(Nashua, N.H.) – Daniel Webster College men's basketball standout Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. Has been named the "Player of the Week" by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as announced by the conference office this morning.

Hanson, a senior guard, averaged 21.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and shot 44-percent from the field helping the Eagles to a 2-1 record last week. In the process, Hanson moved into third place all time in DWC men's basketball scoring history.

Moreover, Hanson played in a remarkable 118 minutes out of a possible 125 and knocked down 15 of 34 three-point opportunities.

Hanson opened the week with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 68-53 victory over Mitchell College on December 7th. He followed with 25 points including seven three-pointers and added seven caroms playing all 40 minutes of a 78-72 loss to Salve Regina University on December 9th.

Hanson closed the week with a double double of 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 79-77 overtime victory over Wheelock College on December 11th. He knocked down six from beyond the arc, adding three assists and two steals.

Through nine games this season, Hanson leads the Eagles averaging 15.4 points and is adding 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and is shooting 43-percent from the field and 44-percent from outside.

Moreover, Hanson surpassed two of the all time Eagle greats on the program's all-time scoring list. He passed Mark Goodwin '92 for fourth all time with his 1,405th career point against Mitchell and jumped over Julian Black '95 with point number 1,443 against Wheelock.

Hanson currently stands at 1,463 career points, 139 points from Jo Jo Stuart '95, who stands second all time at 1,602.

Under the guidance of third year Head Coach Dave Faucher, the Eagles are 6-3 overall and 2-0 in NECC play. The Eagles are off until January 6th when they visit Eastern Nazarene College in a regional matchup tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
