Nashua, NH – Trailing by as many as 11 points in the first half and 32-31 at the break, the Salve Regina University men's basketball team shot 55-percent from the floor in the second frame on the way to a 78-72 victory over host Daniel Webster College in the first ever meeting of the two programs Thursday night at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Senior Windell Hinson (Groton, Conn.) led the Seahawks (4-4) with a game-high 26 points including six three-pointers while adding five assists and three rebounds. Ryan Birrell (Hope, R.I.) and Dan Royce (Mahwah, N.J.) added 10 points apiece.

Senior Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) tallied 25 points with a season-high seven threes to lead the Eagles (5-3), who saw a three-game win streak come to a halt. Senior Eric Suarez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) enjoyed a solid outing with a double double of 13 points and tied his career-high with 13 rebounds including seven on the offensive glass.

Rookie Daris Cosby (Columbia, S.C.) chipped in with 10 points for DWC while senior Chris Voukides (Salem, N.H.) added nine.

Salve's size was a big factor in the second half as the Seahawks out-rebounded the hosts 24-16 in the period. Salve took control early on with a game-changing 15-2 run keyed by two big jumpers from Hinkson over a span of 4:30 that turned a 34-31 deficit into a 46-36 lead with 14:54 left.

A Hinkson three with 9:05 left ballooned the lead to 17 (64-47) but DWC responded to the threat of a blowout with a 12-1 run sparked by back-to-back treys from Hanson for a 65-59 game with 3:41 to go.

But Salve had its answer in Hinkson. After Birrell had sank two at the line Hinkson knocked down who a huge three with 2:09 left from the right side pushing the lead back to 11. The Eagles would pull no closer than seven down the stretch with Hinkson going six-for six at the line.

The Eagles close out their fall semester on Saturday hosting Wheelock College in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup at 1:00 p.m.
